So we, Pure PlayStation, now are hardened criminals. It’s included in our new re-branding efforts to attract a greater demographic. To help keep up this appearance, we’ve recently come to breaking the laws of copyright. Yeah, we’re going huge. No faffing around with guns, drugs, or trafficking – we’re going straight to the jackpot. The only issue is, Sony doesn’t like our new direction. What gives? We’re just hustling our way throughout the world. As our main man James Blunt once rapped “playas gonna play”.
OK, enough fun, let’s get to business.
While buttering my toast within this fine April morning, I received an e-mail. Normal. I recieve emails every hour of each one day. A lot of them get ignored or pushed back until later in the day, however this one caught focus immediately. Individual line read: 478-355798698 Notice of Unauthorized Use.
Strange. Even so I saw the associated e-mail address:[email protected]
Fuuuuuuuuuu… An instant panic had me assuming most likely the site have been compromised and somebody had uploaded illegal files, such as full games persons to download. Nope, that wasn’t the way it is. It had been a post that one with the team had written yesterday. A short article about God of War’s PS4 trophies.
I belief that surely this has been some shitty scam email, nonetheless it wasn’t.
“Sony Interactive Entertainment America LLC (hereinafter labelled as “SIEA”) has authorized Irdeto to act since it’s non-exclusive agent for copyright infringement notification.”
I did my homework and located that Irdeto will be a correct entity which actually does operate on behalf of Sony, and various other companies. The e-mail continues:
“Irdeto has reasonable good faith thought that utilization of the material in the manner complained of within the below report is just not authorized by SIEA, its agents, or the law. ?The results provided herein is accurate to your best of our knowledge.”
Update knowing about it, Irdeto.
“Therefore, this letter* is an official notification to effect eliminating the detected infringement classified by the below report. ?The below documentation specifies the exact location in the infringement.”
*Email. Letters are sent by post.
“We hereby ask that you immediately remove or block accessibility to the infringing material, as specified by the copyright laws, and insure you refrains while using or sharing individuals unauthorized SIEA materials sometime soon (see, 17 U.S.C. 512). Further, the world thinks how the entire *Internet community benefits when these things are resolved cooperatively. ?We urge you to definitely act immediately to cease this infringing activity. ?We appreciate your efforts toward this common goal.”
*Sony prefers it when small fish pull their pants on command.
“Note: The content transmitted during this Notice is meant only for the individual or entity arrangement it is addressed and might contain confidential and/or privileged material. ?Any review, reproduction, retransmission, dissemination or some other by using, or taking of any action in addiction to, this information by persons or entities in addition to the intended recipient is prohibited. Well it’s a bit late now. I’m sharing this with everyone.
And you have to end on this:

So our article with the trophies for God of War is, apparently, infringing copyrights. Bollocks. Absolute bollocks. So far as I recognize, the game’s trophy information was below the same embargo for reviews. So, technically, anytime following the review embargo passed, the trophy information became fair game. However, technically, even as we didn’t acquire a copy within the game from Sony, we’re not under any embargo.
It makes me wonder where these kinds of shit go in the foreseeable future. Might for any article about xbox game trophies. Why don’t you consider if your next big game leaks? Or even a review fades out early? Will Sony send its pen-wielding lawyers then? I’m baffled for words to tell the truth. Used to remedy the e-mail.
“Hello,”
I’m always polite.
“After studying this email a couple of times, I’ve go to the culmination that it’s all bollocks.”
Nearly always…
“When you still prefer to pursue this, don’t wait. You have got my email address and below you’ll find my telephone number, too.”
And now I sit and wait. Or otherwise. I’m not visiting give close to this much more thought. Basically acquire a reply, fine, I’ll maintain the to-and-fro until an example of us tires out and give up. For now, I hope that a few other poor sod isn’t getting bullied. For anybody who is, don’t lie down and accept it. Unless you’re an ideal criminal and you’re actually doing something really bad. Therefore, pull ’em down, you’ve earned it.
